Goodbye Solo

Senegalese taxi driver Solo is offered a $1,000 contract to drive crotchety South Carolinian pensioner William to a remote, isolated beauty spot. Suspecting his fare might be planning to commit suicide, the likeable and compassionate African decides to save his life and finds ways of inveigling himself into the old man’s life, even getting him to coach him for his Flight Attendant’s exam. Touching and sentimental without being mawkish, this is an adroitly delivered tale of hope, redemption and friendship.
