Christine, wheelchair-bound from MS, makes the pilgrimage to Lourdes with a church group in which she does not feel fully engaged. A film as much about disability and it's attendant isolation and rage as about faith and redemption, Lourdes examines these themes without overt judgment. Richly textured and humane, quietly deep, neither pious nor cynical, this is not a film seeking to provide answers but to illuminate questions.
