Asa, recently demobbed from the Russian Navy, yearns to be a shepherd on the steppes like his brother-in-law. But he needs a goat, a yurt and, most of all, a wife. Tulpan, the only eligible maiden in miles, rejects his advances because his ears are too big. Will love find a way? This engaging documentary style romance also makes pertinent points about a disappearing life-style. An endearing story with lovable characters and an exotic locale make this a must-see screening.
